A significant fire erupted in a medicine warehouse located in Dankuni, Hooghly district, at 7 pm yesterday, causing extensive damage to the facility. Reports indicate that the warehouse, along with its shed, has been completely destroyed by the blaze. Firefighting efforts are underway, with approximately eight fire engines deployed to extinguish the flames. Despite the intensity of the fire, only two minor injuries have been reported so far.
Efforts to contain the fire have been bolstered with the arrival of additional fire engines, bringing the total to 12. Alongside the firefighting operation, a substantial police presence from the Dankuni police station has been mobilized to manage the situation and ensure public safety.
